Tomosaka Rie - Shoujo Robot

I like!

Chisako Mikami's voice is to me one of most personal and powerful Japanese singers I ever heard, getting a special moving power in her live performances.

This song is special too because it talks about the death of her older brother (something that seems that affected strongly her life and career).

fra-foa - Aojiroi Tsuki (live)

Humming Urban Stereo - Space Loves Disco
Fluffy Korean electro-pop.

The Libertines - 8 Days A week.

This is quite a rare demo, that nobody even knew existed until this week. I think it's a really decent cover. Jihad thoughts?

If you don't recognize this song, shame on you

TJ perfoming old Shiina Songs. It doesn't get any better.

Cheers for that I always thought that The Libertines were a great band - it's a shame that the idiot Doherty has to drug himself into an early grave (i wish he'd hurry up).

That said, The Libertines wouldn't have been anything without Doherty, Babyshambles is such a joke though it's obvious that the Libertines set up was the best for everyone.

Ah well, we had 2 good albums out of them, I wish a lot of bands would only do 2 albums and retire.

8 days was a Beatles song wasn't it? Speaking of which, why exactly were the Beatles held in such high regard? - I mean i pretty much hate all their stuff.

The Stones on the other hand pretty much rocked (although I wish they had given up rather than carry on like geriatrics).

Where was I, oh yeh...

This week I am mostly listening to Kishidan 1/6 Lonely night!

127 !!!

They were always one step ahead of everybody, at the time. Their lyrics were extremely well written and intelligent. Their recording studio was extremely advanced and their sound techs were far ahead of anybody else in the industry, very innovative. The leaps and bounds they made inside the studio were probably the most innovative throughout 20th century music history. But most of all, they wrote absolutely fantastic songs. And not just that, but they wrote LOTS of them. They have such a large variety of work and there isn't typically one particular thing that stands out. Everybody has a different favourite Beatles album, and they are one of the only bands that if you asked 20 people what their favourite Beatles song is, it wouldn't be surprising to get 20 entirely different answers.

Aside from that, I have no idea why people like them...

I remember a song about a yellow submarine. :D

They wrote catchy songs (not that i personally like them) and were down with the trendy kids of the day, I suppose that would make them populist and commercialised.

I really don't think their songs were as deep and intelligent as people may think (I think Lennon himself admitted this).

It kind of reminds me of when a critic reviews a famous book or painting and compares it to some great political statement or noble sentiment, when in reality it was just as likely that the artist wanted to churn something pretty out or a write a good book that would fund their addiction at the time.
