Insightful? I don't know. I do know that all but the best of journalists, being implicitly generalists, hop from one topic to another without ever really grasping the subtilties, but this was still intriguing to me.

Cheesy "Soccer = Life" time: Sometimes everyone around you thinks that you might fail. And you fail. And you have to deal with that.

Germany and Netherlands did what everybody expected them to do (wich is not very easy in the first game). Japan is a surprise. Very limited team, but tactically consistent. Still hard to get through the group stage yet, but they got some chance now.
