See, this is the route Shiina should try. If "RLBM" is here to stay (or rather just rock being dead) then she should try some acoustic kinda stuff rather than trying to shoehorn songs into a jazz style. Aimee Mann started out all "teh rawk" and she mellowed out, and I think her best music came after the mellow (even if a certain hit or miss kinda disparity.)

Hmm, at first glimpse this song reminded me of I heart Huckabees, not Magnolia

badtzmaru 2007.05.16 01:16 PM

THE BACK HORN - "Hikari no Kesshou"

"Blackout" always reminded me of this song because of the way Ringo and Yamada sing the verses from one extreme to another. (If that makes sense... >_<) I haven't heard any other songs with that style/effect. And also the glass-breaking and ORANGE box thingy (amplifier?) remind me of Ringo and TJ, too. :D I'd like to see Uki play like Suganami one time. *_* Heheh

Ahh, I can't wait for their album!!!!!!!!! >_<!!

Ahhh, I didn't know it was out yet! Does it sound anything like their old stuff?

Tokyo Jihad 2007.05.18 05:12 PM

I can hear a some resemblance to some Siamese Dream kinda stuff. I think my Zwan + overzealous Van Halen fan comment is pretty spot on. (I think Billy goes a lil too overboard on all the solos and guitar licks in the song. Its not bad, its pretty good, just alil much)

Bobby McFerrin and Richard Bona Improvisation

Not usually my type of thing, but this left me speechless. Got the whole 'Bobby McFerring Live at Montreal' show after watching this clip, and it's all just as brilliant. Especially considering 90% of McFerrin's vocals are completely made up on the spot. His vocal range is astonishing!

Jonny 2007.05.19 01:35 PM

Continuing the live house tour we arrive at

The Madame Cats - 春なのね

Among a set of really crappy video caps over at Youtube, this one has the best "quality".

well if you like Ukifune you should listen to that whole album (Tategami) - actually that was the first song, and album, I heard by them too, and what made me fall in love with them, haha. Lately I've been listening a lot to Ryuuzetsuran though. It has some reeaally good songs on it.

& What's with the g0? Their name is GO!GO!7188

--------------------

Rufus Wainwright - Do I Disappoint You?
<3 I'm in love with a gay man.

justriiingo 2007.05.25 12:25 AM

Jetto Ninjin (Jet Ninjin, but Yuu sings Jetto so i'm used to typing it Jetto) should get you hooked (you can gootube this). And the Cutie Honey theme. Tokage Sango. Aa Seishun. I like the techno Ukifune (more)!

oops. they're not similar to the floating boat, but those are the GO!GO! songs I like.

Ukifune is awesome, something about those "rairairairairairairairai"s :D, Hmm may have to start hunting for GoGo's CDs soon, I'm also loving "Dotanbe de Cancel". It sounds sooooo familiar, from a movie maybe?

SRV I like, and if any more fools insist on calling him the 2nd Hendrix (for that matter, any fool that thinks Kenny Wayne Shepard the 2nd SRV), I'm getting the A Team on you ass. Literally.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think SRV > Hendrix. Stevie's covers of Little Wing and Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) are more pleasing to my ears than the originals.

Metallica - The New Song (Live)

Listened to it months ago when it leaked, and I've been trying not to listen much as I don't want to spoil the new album and I know how much they'll change the song, particularly the vocals.

But it does kick ass.

justriiingo 2007.05.29 07:37 PM

OMG The FLARE! HAHA. The song is Sugizo alright, but the vocalist Yuna (that his name right?) is a joke. He's like a clean VK guy. Really weird.

(but that song is very addictive.)

 I would say SRV is on the same level as Hendrix; Hendrix is superior musical wise, but SRV's better technical wise. I didn't like SRV's lil wing though, its too over blown and flashy, just loses that casual, beautiful vibe Hendrix was creating. And on that note, I luvvvvv John Lee Hookers cover of lil wing.
