SR's Shiroi Kobato cover weirdness
 

Hi all,

Just thought I heard something weird in SR's Shiroi Kobato cover on Utaite Myouri.

At around the 2 minute mark, there's the part where there is some weird voice in the background while the drums and keyboard are playing.

It seems like SR's voice and she seems to be half-singing, half-speaking something incoherent. I'm not sure if anyone here has asked about this before, but I must have missed it if anyone did.

I reversed that part where the weird voice is heard and it sounds like SR is singing what i assume is english:"What are you doing? Watching my mother (or brother or father...not sure)"

It might very well be some strange language or maybe it is just nothing. Somebody help me out!

Thanks for your reply at least. :D For a moment there, I thought everyone at EMF fell prey to zombification...(just watched Dawn of the Dead 2004 :wakka:).

Hmm, well even I am not sure what I'm hearing. It might be nothing or it might just be really hard to decipher... all I can hear is something resembling "watching my mother" or something like that. You can hear it within the first 2 seconds of the clip and then again at the 4-second mark and again at the 8-second mark and lastly at the 11-second mark.

It is a loop that is repeated 4 times. I just felt that that particular part of the song sounded a little weird when played back normally. Can anyone make anything out of it? The non-reversed playback I mean... Since noone seems to have any idea what the reversed playback is.

Let's see if I pick anything out, since I apparently have inhuman ears...lol

Hi, milk, glad that you posted this, never noticed it before.

I did a voice cancellation for this and tweaked it a little bit on my
system.
And the closest i can hear Shiina saying on there is watching my father/
and it may vary between father/mother not so sure about the mother but
i do belive what she is saying is watching my father. The mumbling was pretty
hard to detect between all the sounds,
but i have pretty sharp hearing so i guess i can say im quite positive about Shiina saying watching my father etc...

Not very sure what she's saying, but i'm definitely very sure it's a part of the song, being reversed. I can distinctly hear the melody, it's got the same melody as the 'umareta no yo' part.

Maybe it was a sample from the original Shuri Eiko song?

Kudos to milk to pointing this out, and coming up with the idea to reverse it ^_^.

benkai ringo: How'd you do the noise cancellation part? What software did you use? I wonder what she means..."watching my father". It is so strange. I've never thought about her parents before. Wonder if anyone knows anything about them..

kanzaki: Yeah, I noticed the melody fit in with the main song as well... I already tried listening to the original one by Shuri Eiko but did not find any similarities..

Hmm..this is the second song in the Utaite Myouri album to contain semi-hidden vocals.. I wonder what other hidden tidbits there are..

Omg, that's really scary. @_@;;;; I never noticed that voice in that song either, but I can't really make out what she's saying in the reversed version. I hear "watching my father" since you guys already said that, but I'm not sure. >_< That would be kind of cool/creepy... o_o;;

And what was the other song on the album with hidden voices? :ph43r:

Hehe.. actually the other one is nothing new.. it's Jazz A Go Go with UFO in the background during the part where SR scats.
