You weren't the only one... it was kind of in album purgatory after she broke up with Kevin Parker, was fucked over by one record label and suffered an aneurysm last year. Thanking the music gods she persisted!
Some of her obvious influences like Broadcast and Stereolab you can still hear on this album, although like I said this definitely sounds she's come more into her own. If anyone is a fan of Dungen and The Amazing (her collaborators on this album) I'd also recommend.
