Media coverage regarding celebrity-dating is kinda weird/different in Japan. In the US it's kind of a gossip-game/source of fun from what I've observed. In Japan, it's always been that if an artist is marketed mainly for their sex appeal, then making their love-life too public hurts their image (Johnny's members not being allowed to date, or whatever the rule is, for example). I can't really apply this to Shiina though--sure, a lot of us think she's hot and whatnot, but it's a bit of a stretch to say sex is her main selling point. I always thought Shiina was just really weird, so we don't hear about her. XD
