There are (I think) 2 DTS 5.1 tracks on the Heisei Fuuzoku LE DVD which are pretty good. Aside from that, I don't think so. I'm craving KZK in 5.1.

Yes, definitely. KZK would be just perfect in 5.1 though, what with all the instruments and samples. Best 5.1 I've heard has been Bjork's DVD-A's. I could imagine KZK to be like them, i.e. fantastic!

Ah that reminds me, Gekokujyo Xstacy is in 5.1 too. It's really good. They don't make huge use of the surround speakers, other than to widen the stereo field, but there are a few really cool moments where the crowd cheers and you sound like you're right in the middle of it!

I'd really like to hear more Shiina Ringo in surround sound, but I don't want them to rush it. If they released it right now, it would be in a modern format like DTS, which I don't mean to insult because DTS is very underrated (as I'm sure Inaudible Whisper would agree).
Now if they released surround sound Shiina Ringo later (on Blu-Ray or HD-DVD), we'd end up with something like 5.1 192kHz/24bit PCM. That is what I'd like to hear. There's a world of difference between that, and a colored take on 96kHz. Until then, I'd rather they focus on making the stereo recordings/mixes better. Shouso Strip through Kyoiku, was a rollercoaster of releases that were more or less thin & dry. There's been an upward trend of recording/mixing improvement with Adult and Heisei Fuuzoku, and I hope that continues with Variety.

If they released a load of stuff in HD and 5.1 192kHz on HD-DVD it would make me buy an HD-DVD player add-on for my 360. I'll probably get one eventually anyway, but still.
