ok, here is my review /o/
I think I never wrote a review before O.õ don't know well... 1st of all, I never hate any(SR/TJ)thing even Adult, I just like less than anyother album, but I like o.o so don't expect a harsh review... Ramp O_O OMG what a happy song (like mostly of this album's songs)!!! sounds retro (like mostly of this album's songs too) remind me those happy-happy clamp's anime ending well... it's a good song to walking-and-jumping-happly or dancing-in-the-rain on the way to home I like it Mirrorball to me is better than JCHI's mirrorball sounds a little retro too, and is good to have a non-too-happy-song in the album and oh yeah, the bass remind me sigma... that "tun dun tah" Kingyo no Hako ...I love it *.* even doesn't sound like a SR/TJ song I could imagine even koda kumi doing a song like this, but not TJ sounds like an anime opening and Sounan's guitar solo would be better here than this solo. Shiseikatsu a bit depressing-melancholic song sounds like superstar... but is worse because superstar chorus are animated-not-depressing-and-good-at-all I don't liked it so much its like a meh rakujitsu+superstar XP OSCA goes in the right place, after a melancholic song like shiseikatsu... I like how this song goes with this album sounds retro (how much times I'll say it in this review X_X) and it's one of my favorites on the album... but even liking it I don't like as a normal TJ/SR song... it's kind of... this song is with the mortal songs... and SR songs are with the divine ones so even if I loved this song, it'll never reach the same status than other SR/TJ ones so OSCA is inferior. Kronekodow OMG LOVE IT sounds like a runing cartoon song like Tom & Jerry's song and remind me a little Kojima Mayumi songs plus old SR Fukushu XD when I 1st heard it I thought WTF?! I like it sounds a little ocidental neverexpected it its a unique song between all SR/TJ songs! Boutomin to me sounds a bit ocidental too it's uki singing with SR?! like the kabuki reference part the whole song... like a bit more than shiseikatsu XP to me this song goes with karada... ocidental-a-bit-meh SSAW also goes in the boutomin/karada group is an ending of afternoon song boring+melancholic Boutomin>SSAW>shiseikatsu Tsukigime-hime sounds retro and happy like a Variety song XD is in right place, after a song like SSAW I like it... is in OSCA/BBQueen/JCHImirrorball group Sake to Geko I like it sounds a dramatic song to me XD better than another happy song the end remind me Suguroku Xstasy's performances Oh Hirama if you were here... Killer tune always sounded like a normal jpop song to me it's a song that bring you up I like it... but like I could like a normal jpop song not as a divine SR song Metro Oh I really like this song not love, just really like... but this can change happy but melancholic and is in right place and about pinocchio and kaban no nakami being better than some songs in this album... well, SR B-sides are always so good that you want to buy the single only for them I think the songs in the album are all in a good place like I think the songs in the singles are in a right place to preceed the album OSCA----animated-retro-song+gorgeous-end-of-afternoon-song+retro-like-old-series-songs-song KillerTune------bring-you-up-normal-jpop-song+animated-retro-noisy-song+RnB-slow-kind-of-sexy-song-but-not-too-much so the truth is KYOUIKU>VARIETY>HF>ADULT

Boooya bitches!!! 15 love it and 19 think it is a good album, compared to the 9 that do not hate it and 1 that does not like it. If you did not vote that's your problem, democracy rules! ^__^

Personally, Variety is one of the freshest things in music I have heard in a long time and ironically, it draws from numerous references to the 70s and 80s. The fact that Ukigumo had such a huge part in this album and how during Countdown Japan live, the band already had a reworked version of Mirrorball, my theory is that the band composed the majority of this while Shiina Ringo was working on Heisei Fuuzoku. Tyra loves Variety btw. |

The HF poll is case in point why a Variety poll would 4ail. No one has the balls to be too critical
And Kyoiku was not the "worst album" ever at the time. There was no HF/Variety calibur backlash. Everyone was of the opinion the album wasnt as good as the solo records. But there was an air of "its not great, but were comapring it to classics. Maybe it sounds better live" and we were right. There was no "hard feelings" towards it like Adult or Variety. It was a bit of a letdown, and there was some "go back to solo" stuff, but it wasnt so venomous because no one was really too positive that Jihen would be around for 3 more years. and in a way, theyre not

Both Killer Tune and Variety shipped yesterday. Will soon be in my hands, ears, and brain. Then I can actually participate in this epic thread.

Also, why are people who like it not critical? You can be critical and still like something. Not everyone is going to take the time to post about each song, but most people did for Variety and said what they liked and disliked about it so how is that any less critical than someone who disliked most of it? EDIT: Sarcasm is lost in online text. Anyway, Neko usually brings up good information so I had no reason to disbelieve him when he said this. It's not like he said the show was called "Behind the Scenes: Ringo ruvvs Uki" or something obvious like that. |
