Nobody rep'd me when I said the LP was better than the Variety CD, either. It's basically everything from the OSCA and Killer Tune singles, plus both versions of Senkou Shoujo. Since Tokyo Jihen never comes out with full albums on LP, I pointed out that Variety was the most appropriate time for Tokyo Jihen LP(s) to do "business as usual" with focusing on the singles or other companion CDs/DVDs instead of the main album.

I still don't get why no one seems to like Variety. Are people not funk/70s fans? The main songs I like off of it are focused around a very bass and synth focused, which I think they pulled off very well.
And SSAW is totally just like Katamari music.

What do you consider funk (in general and from this album)? My favorite music is from the 70s and 90s. I don't like this album at all and I hate Katamari.

I never had anyone on "ignore" but when the period question occurred I made it habit to just completely skip over everything you posted more or less.

Well just the very heavy bass line, shown most prominently in Mirrorball, Kingyo no Hako, Boutomin and SSAW.
Funkadelic is an example of a legitimate band with the sound. And while a somewhat novelty song, Play That Funky Music White Boy has a very stereotypical base line. And both Chic's Le Freak and KC and The Sunshine Band's That's The Way I Like It are good funk/disco fusions. OH and even David Bowie's Fame has the funk sound.

Certainly TJ made it a bit more updated and converged their own sound with it (and not all the songs are the same sound, mainly Fukushuu), but that's the underlying sound I get from the whole album.
