HF is controversial because they marketed it as her return to solo work and her long awaited 4th album (I have the Rockin On where it says on the cover, clear as day, Ringo's first solo album in 4 years!). The claim was later rebuked and then replaced with SG, but as a whole, I think the album is extremely well done. It has a warmth and a classic feel to it, where I think we could place it in a time capsule and it would come out in better standing. Albums like Variety feel dated in a way already. Since it was after KZK I get why people prefer certain arrangements and feel duped, but the original compositions on HF, such as Sakuran, Hatsukoi Shoujo, Oiran, and KYNK, are really quite good IMO. I think I would have liked an entire album full of that type of material.

I think it's one of the best songs of SR's in years, even if it takes a little while to grow on you.

I wish this were true. But how do we know if the original instrumental album wasn't just like HF? Hell, for all we know, she could have just written lyrics to it and released it as Sanmon Gossip.
=p I know you were being facetious, but it depends on what you mean by 'just like HF' -- 7 out of 13 songs were covers of some kind (And she decided to remake the songs because her original OST was rejected), and one was composed by Uki. Sanmon Gossip is made up of tracks written to be counterparts to other song (Mittei, Mayakashi, Ii Karada I think), one for a TV show (Jikan), Karisome was already on HF, etc. etc.

Ahhhhhh, it's useless speculating. Even if the album was going to be full of Tamatebakos, the darn thing didn't get released in the end....

Maybe she'll talk about it in this week's Jihen magazine feature about SPORTS! </Segue into on-topicness>

How does that band compare in style to his collabs with SR?
As group name suggests, Killing Time is project to do what they want
as opposed to their usual business. IMO, if you have a chance,
it is worth to try them and related music like Semba Kiyohiko's Haniwa.

I found your mondo Semba Kiyohiko thread yesterday. Huge thanks for compiling and annotating all that stuff. I dig.

If anyone hasn't seen it, it's well worth your time:

HF was a dissapointment because I think a lot of us were expecting something new. After I had time to get used to the fact that it was barely half new, I realized it was really solid and all of the re-worked songs despite seeming similar at first actually have a whole new life to them now. But as much as I love saying 'Mangas and Papayas anythin ya heart desires' Papaya Mango is a piece of poo left out in the sun however.

It's totally worth
at least more than listen to Variety or HF, IMO
But I'm suspicious to say that
I loooove Killing Time X3
didn't we have a thread about Saito Neko works not related to SR?

HF is great despite the lack of originality but I think we're going off-topic...

So anyway Lady Gaga is better than Shiina Ringo.

Just kidding.
