I think he meant the details in the movie do not match the details in the book.
I read Da Vinci's code before trying to watch the movie. 15 minutes in... I walked away and went to do my homework. Details are totally off. Even the chick looks spectacularly uglier than what the book had described... |

Oh no. You did not just call Audrey Tautou ugly. She is lovely and precious.

She isn't what the book described as.

Some people like to think that J.K. Rowling knew every detail of what she was going to do, but...just like George Lucas with Star Wars, she probably only had a vague idea. Still pretty good books, though. |

I think J. R. R. Tolkien did had the whole idea when writing LoTR. I still can't believe he added elven songs and drinking songs into the book... But still, the movies did not portray what Tolkien envisioned... |

I guess it's debatable. To me, the invisibility cloak was introduced in Book 1, and Tom Riddle's Diary in Book 2. Maybe she knew all along that they were going to be a Deathly Hallow and Horcrux, respectively. Maybe she didn't.
Most of the details in previous books show up at least once more in a later one. I think the only one that doesn't is the Time Turner. As for Tolkien, he definitely planned the crap out of that. He built an entire history, SEVERAL languages, and cultures, and huge amount of detail that he definitely did not just make up on the spot. |

Oh yeah, no question. It's so rare to see that from fantasy authors today.

I think George R R Martin does. Also Terry Pratchett. Probably more. Diana Wynne Jones? Hm.
The guy who did the Eragon books? |

I think we may be misunderstanding each other...I'm talking about a complete series being thoroughly planned out from the first book to the last, with the entire plot outlined (not necessarily in detail, but still outlined). Chronicles of Narnia is another example of what I'm thinking of. |
