Forgot to add this, but the album will also come with a short novel.

So what does everyone think of the new samples that were just released?

This is the only preview not region locked in the US. Utada https://www.bilibili.com/video/av22819153?
LiSA https://www.bilibili.com/video/av22830420
Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku https://www.bilibili.com/video/av228...03811432380551
I couldn't find Fujiwara Sakura's or Matsu Takako's, but the others were sadly very boring. I expected nothing and I'm still left disappointed. At least with the first batch of previews, the artists managed to put their own spin on Ringo's material. Utada's cover was exactly what I expected (a duller version of EXPO) and LiSA somehow made NIPPON even more unbearable (and I say this as someone who likes Schroeder-Headz!). Surely Ringo has more clout than this album would suggest; she can get better acts to cover her than Shiritsu Ebisu Chuugaku and LiSA, right? Even Chatmonchy had a better lineup for their tribute album with the likes of CHAI and Kinoko Teikoku. Last edited by chestnutflowers : 2018.05.01 at 09:57 AM. |

For me, there is some inherent appeal in most of the covers, just from the standpoint of liking the source material and being able to look at it afresh with a performance that I don't already have memorized. But I also kind of feel like the artists/performances were carefully selected so as not to outshine her or deviate too much from the original. Some of it even feels like what Ringo herself would have done with the material if she were releasing it today instead of ~20 years ago.

This is about as dull as the Utada Hikaru tribute album. And that had Ringo and Hamsandwich on it
