I'm glad you got a good dose of Looney Tunes as a kid. Chuck Jones, Fritz Freleng, Robert McKimson, Tex Avery, Bob Clampett...hard to beat those guys. When I was a kid there were a couple of hours of Warner Brothers cartoons on every afternoon. I don't think I've seen one on TV in 20 years now.
Max Fleischer did some amazingly surreal and racy stuff with his character Betty Boop before the 1934 Hays code forced him to tone down the overt sexuality. His early stuff is really worth seeking out if you are into cartoons.
Cartoons were my first taste of Japanese popular culture, though I had no idea that AstroBoy,Speed Racer, Marine Boy and Kimba the White Lion were Japanese when I was was young.
