Another beautiful violinist. Ikuko Kawai likes to play smoothly legato while Naoko Terai loves to contrast both staccato and legato, or sometimes even mix them both.

Again, the pianist is a total badass. Different, but would still have women at his feet.

Now that's even better that the one I posted. Closer to jazz, even more versatile and suggestive to me.

And yes, the pianists should stop being badass, both of them.

Following this Japanese-female-violinists trend, this year Zubin Mehta came to Buenos Aires and I need to say it, honestly, the highlights were Mayuko Kamio's solo parts on every single performance.

You may already know her, but here is a bit (now that you mention, I reckon mainly legato+vibrato, and some staccato specially near the end, but you are the one who knows here):




EDIT: Okay, this is perfect: thanks to you, now I know that Naoko Terai did some music along with Milton Nascimento & Jobim Trio and with Yoshihide Otomo All Stars. I love when these happy turn of chances happen, the good music converge and makes you find even more good music.

So that's why it's grown on me. I freakin' love Saito Neko. His arrangements for Heisei Fuuzoku and his arrangment on FINAL DISTANCE for Utada were amazing.

Which one? I know he did the string arrangements, but did he re-arrange the entire song?

Oh shoot... he didn't arrange HF, he just orchestrated it... Whatever, it was still amazing. And yes, he only did the string arrangements for FINAL DISTANCE (Hikki did the rest). Maybe a more accurate thing to say would've been that I love his strings work. And his solo on Meisai. That was boss.

I think he played the violin on karisome otome which gave it his very special flair.
