I think we can now close the thread with this comment =)

We all know, that nobody in this forum would stop buying TJ stuff only because a limited DVD is missing. But all Op was saying was, that the majority of japanese consumers do so. So I think that I'm the first if I say "Yes, I agree, that could be possible"

Well, it seems like a veil to cover that maybe just maybe, its because of the singles not being up to par that it (possibly) sells below expectations. Like a passing of the buck.

(I think it'll sell just fine)

Osca ranked #2 in the first week and Killer Tune was #5 in its first week so I don't think many people in japan thought it was not up to par. I think the only thing that will deter Variety's sales is that Ai Otsuka's album is coming out on the same day. I agree that they should have added a DVD but I don't think that it's such a good idea. My main gripe about it is that there is really no reason why they should not have added it (unless there was and we don't know about it).

Pre-packaged, fakey, prepubescent happy pop music will dominate over Tokyo Jihen?

What weird wacky country could this travesty happen in? I'll murderlize someone!

Ai Otsuka is the songwriter and composer of her own music. Thus I shall respect that any success she garners will be deserved. If her music is more marketable and commercial, so be it.

Well, duh. Now that the quality of the music is going down, we need someone to do the preemptive damage control just in case the album bombs. Heisei had the "it's not really an SR album" thing going and now we get "No DVD, no sales."

Of course, there actually is some merit in Op's original statement because Japanese do expect some kind of bonus material now and, even though quality of music is subjective, shitty albums sell good in Japan with bonus items. I don't think the lack of bonus items will dramatically hurt the sales of the album, but it won't exactly help either.

How do you guys think that this is just a preemptive thread as an excuse for the album? It's just a bad move to not add something that everyone expects should be there.

In the grand scheme of all things EMF, no bonus DVD's just mean there's less things to talk about in this forum. Although TJ's recent materials are straying slightly into the mainstream, TJ/SR in general have always marketed themselves to not play the game by the book, SOO I reckon that the over all success and popularity (As I'm assuming that Op2's rant is about a possible downfall in popularity for TJ reflected by bad sales) of TJ's phase 3 will be, as according to Jihad's theory, based on their live performances. JCHI sold quite a few tickets, and that made Adult successful, now we just have to see if spa n' treatment will pull off the hat trick.
