I went to see Angels and Demons last night. Pretty good movie. The pace was better than in DaVinci Code and the fact that it was more action oriented made it more impressive.
I still think Dan Brown's books give too much importance to the christian church or other religions, like they are the reason behind all the bad things in the world and the key to advance humanity and solve all the problems is locked deep in the annals of the Vatican, but well, at least he knows how to write in a mysterious and compelling way, that gets everyone wanting to read and know more. What other fiction would compell more than one that presents mysteries connected with the real world we live in? And well, at least it's a way to open some eyes/minds, since religions are part of the problem, just not the big part. |

Digital Fortress and Deception Point have nothing to do with religion (you're only talking about the books that have been adapted to films), and even if every book of his were about religion - that's not the problem I have with Dan Brown's writing.
You know how every Scooby-Doo episode uses the same plot formula? So does every Dan Brown novel, even when there's no religion. I would tell you what the formula is, but you could actually have some fun reading at least one of his books before you finally figure out the formula.

I only read DaVinci Code (and movie) and now saw the Angels and Demons movie. I have the Angels and Demons book, but am not too much interested in reading.
Oh, and I can already notice a similiar plot structure between DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons: huge plottwist at the end. Last edited by ShinjiPG : 2009.06.04 at 08:10 AM. |

They do make really good airport/plane books, though. Like if you just need something to consume you for 12 hours, they're basically perfect for that.

Finally saw/bought Blindness.
I think I've never been so enraged because of a movie. Which means I loved it, of course. Deeply connected with it. And Julianne Moore was awesome, but then again a lot of it was due to the director, since she's surrounded by great performances from the other actors. |

Rotten Tomatoes may not agree with me, but Land of the Lost is great fun and the best movie to star Will Ferrell since Anchorman (if not better than.)

I'd say so. I liked Stranger than Fiction, but its one of those "one-and-done" movies. LotL is like Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back where you can tune in if its on TV or pop in the DVD if you're bored and just pick t up and watch and laugh. Which i find to be a special virtue.

It was really that good, huh? Makes me curious now because I automatically dismissed it as crap without even really giving it a second look.
