ummmm, it depends on what you like. this album is somewhere in between soviet kitsch and begin to hope. begin to hope was much more mainstream. this album never really approaches that level of production, it is mostly piano-based with varying arrangements involving all sorts of varying instruments, mostly strings, but all focusing around her piano and her voice.

the songs are really eccentric, even more so than her previous efforts. here we get to hear here sing about blockbuster cards, imitate a dolphin, an enchanted lake, riot gear, all sorts of stuff.

some of the songs are drop dead gorgeous, this album is a ballad-lover's dream. check out Genius Next Door or Blue Lips. Machine is pretty awesome too. the entire album is on youtube if your curious.

About 25 years ago, my high school friend introduced me
Hassell / Eno's "Possible Music".

TeslaGuy's post here frequency reminds him (he was also YMO fan).

a hit song in same vein at that time (1982)
H. CZUKAY / J. WOBBLE / J. LIEBEZEIT - HOW MUCH ARE THEY ?
