A song can be really good but if it is not heard, it is not going to make it big. Singing for a drama, or anime is some of the ways to market a song. I dont see any problem putting a song out there for a drama, or anime as long as they are good anime/drama.

I understand what you are saying in regards to EMi pushing utada more, but as it has been said before, TJ is doing VERY well in the japanese market so they don't need their music to be featured in an anime or drama to gain attention since they already have it.

I hope they avoid dramas somewhat, too... I kinda cringed when one of their songs (non-Adult Shuraba?) was inserted in Hana Yori Dango 2 during that "second kidnapping" episode, though I'm still not sure whether it was because it was Shuraba or Hana Yori Dango 2.

I think that making music for anime can be quite "dangerous" since there is the risk to become tagged as "anime music" not only the songs they use for this purpose, but the rest of their works.
I think something like that happened to bands like Asian Kung-Fu Generation, that after appearing some of their songs in successful anime openings it seems that they are only remembered for that. And lots of otakus just like the song or the band because "it appeared in Naruto". I think colaborating in anime with a song or 2 is okay, but I preffer bands (I like) not to do it. I can mention only a couple of exceptions I personally liked: FLCL and Beck... |

The single version of Shuraba was already used as a drama opening. So, uh... too late?

1. It's been a photo-shoot, where they played it in the background 2. That's not really THAT much of promotion... it'd have to be opening/ending to the drama (as shuraba was for that samurai-thingy...which somebody already mentioned) 3. I was SO pleased, they played it... suited the scene very well =PPPP |

Oh, so Shuraba was also used already. Huh.
It may have fit the scene, but come on, it's HYD2. Still, it gets props because being unrelentingly corny actually worked to produce a watchable show, as well as having one of the best/worst apple-related stories ever in the first season. |

Kingyou no Hako is going to be the ending theme for a movie called Mouryou no Hako. Coincidence with the titles?
