I "get" Variety, Jihad. Ringo told the boys to write songs that sound like they'd belong on '70s game shows like Cardsharks and Match Game '76 and that one where they dressed up in ridiculous costumes and picked between the curtain and the box.

Before he even posts, I'm here to back up poor misunderstood Hedo. I'm still listening to Variety, and I'm still liking it. But then, I've always had a soft spot for Let's Make A Deal.

Variety/TJ 2.0 fans don't read!!!
Variety is a waste of EMI's money and SR's time. And also my money and my time. Took me 3 seconds to come to the conclusion that Variety sucked. The next 40-ish mins were spent puking in the toilet. But Kingyo no Hako/Goldfish Box is a nice song.

Give it a second chance, you noobs! Sometimes music grows on you after two listens :p
^ sorry, that's not meant to sound angry.. but I do recommend listening to it a few more times, even if you think your first impressions are accurate Last edited by fluffiethesock : 2008.02.24 at 10:35 PM. |

Yeah, maybe not. But I'd still rather such strong negative statements be backed up by several listens to the material. Otherwise they're just ignorant and a waste of everyone's (maybe not everyone's) time.
(again, I'm not trying to start a fight with anyone.. but I'd like to defend something that I feel is inappropriately represented) |

Speaking as the person who has listened to Variety the most out of us haters, it's still as bad as the first impression it gave me. Killer Tune is the only stand out track while the rest is a bunch of shallow throwbacks. Some are OK (Metro), but the others are just bad songs. This isn't an album that can grow on you because there is no depth at all. You can take it in all on the first listen.
