Everyone's listening to the new Radiohead?
My first impression: seems like a pretty straight-forward post-KidA Radiohead album. Tracks I like: Feral, Codex, Give up the Ghost Give up the Ghost I really like. It's a particularly cinematic tune. It gives you the feeling like driving through a huge expanse of land... nothing for miles but the sky and grasslands. And suddenly there's this rugged looking man with a guitar, singing. OR It could soundtrack somebody walking aimlessly through a city at about 5 - 6am... that kind of feeling. It's really cool. Tracks I skipped on first listen: Little by Little, Lotus Flower I think this is a good album, but it is perhaps lacking a high-energy track like Jigsaw falling into place that I wanna go back and listen to non-stop.

This classic groove is given a proper death jazz treatment by the pimps... There's even a little Pharoah Sanders thrown in.

Eddie Palmieri - Bilongo
Yes, every two-bit salsa cover band has to play this, but this version is killer. When I look back on how long it took for me to click with Ismael Quintana's singing (in general), I wonder what was wrong with me.
I have to add this, too (one of his own tunes):

Saw them live tonight, in Rome. An otherworldly experience, like being abducted in a limbo for an hour and float in ether all throughout. Magnificent. |
