I need to listen to that album again. I didn't think there was something that... rock-y-ish on it? I just zoned out to the shoegazing.
It's pretty amazing. Now I'll always think this when I hear "Disarm."
The best part is my girlfriend never heard MBV before today, is not very intimately familiar with the Pumpkins, and spends one-thousandth of the time talking about music as I do, and yet was still able to make this connection I probably never would have noticed otherwise.

She now will add music savant to her business card.

supercell's "Today is a Beautiful Day" album.
Ryo is much better when he's working with a real live girl.
This seems like an homage album to an extent. I can hear GO!GO!7188, Mika Nakashima, Perfume, even a Ringo Shiina track that sounds remarkably similar to MaruSadi.

I'm giving up on Japanese music (well, for liking seriously) outside of Ringo, Togawa. It's all you need really.

I'm not sure I get all the love for Jun Togawa. I mean, I get why she cool and badass and all that jazz, but is her music really that good? I haven't found anything of her's that's floored me yet.

But yeah, I know what you mean. I really only follow Ringo and a couple other bands these days, as far as the Japanese front goes.

^ you gotta keep listening and listening and listening to Togawa. She is like the ultimate grower ever. Have you heard the newer stuff? You may like it more than the 80s stuff- Togawa Fiction's first song is pretty goddamn amazing. But I'm fucking insane Togawa fan so I'm probably too biased to ask.

As far as music that charts goes, yeah, but there's still a number of niche bands worth listening to. But I guess the same is true in America.

Haha, forget I said anything. I saw "Ringo" and just disregarded the rest of the sentence. Is Togawa the vocalist from Guernica, then?

Yeah, she is in 3 main projects. Jun Togawa (her solo work, which covers mainly 80s pop- but completely fucked), Yapoos (TRUE new wave, one of the only new wave bands I fully RESPECT) and Guernica (well, you know :-p), plus about 8 or so smaller projects.
