It the thought is not my own then I am not truly thinking it, or thinking at all. To think is to have a conscious mind. Being given the thoughts is not consciousness, it is programming.

Anyway, I'm off to bed now... it's 6:37am and I'm rather tired. Philosophical debates could go on forever, as it's all a matter of opinion Now I remember why I didn't take philosophy any further than my A-Levels! I'm too lazy. Thanks for curing my boredom though Oh, and Jack Bauer pwns Chuck Norris. FACT!

I love how people are stating opinion as fact in this thread.

Jeebus, I come back to this thread after a night's sleep and the debate has come and gone!
About opinion vs. fact, it's all a matter of perspective. As horrible as it sounds, ANYTHING can feel as though it's justified if you're in the right situation. That's not to say that it IS justified, but someone, somewhere, feels like it is. The same thing can be applied to opinion...no matter how sure you may be of something, the only way it feels so assuredly right is from your perspective, in your situation, and at that exact point in time. Someone else may hear a song by an artist you love and say "that sounds like shit", and you'd probably get really miffed about it and ask them "how can you say that!? this song is awesome", etc etc, but that's only because you have developed a taste for it in your own time and through your own experiences, while they just happened to hear that song because you played it for them. It's unreasonable to expect others to fall in love with your favorite artist, no matter how incredible they may seem to you, because it's only a matter of opinion. Years from now, you may look back on your favorite musician and ask yourself "what the hell was I thinking...?". The only thing I can think of that is really 100% true, all the time, is math...but even then, I've heard that some higher-level math classes end up disproving basic concepts of math (such as dividing by zero...oh shi-!), so who knows. I could blab on about this forever, but I'd just be saying the same thing over and over, so I'm going to go ahead and cut myself off here...
