What makes them indie pop, in your view? I think they are actually shooting for just straight pop/pop rock, albeit a variety of it that is at least in some ways not very common these days. It's entirely possible I have never quite grasped how the term is usually used, too.
That is very strange! They do seem like they enjoy it but I hate parents like that. I wonder how old they are? That info makes them sound more like Hansen.

Indie Pop because they are 1) not tied to a major record company in the US (I think Parlophone in the UK) and 2) going for an 80's pop vibe well past the eighties. Part of being indie is being retro. Tegan and Sara's new album is very explicitly 80's pop. I found it fitting.

I can't wait for the 80's to be over...again...

Okay, better post some [content]

I hear people here claim to enjoy jazz music that features screechy female vocals. If that's so, then everyone here is going to love the new Fire! Orchestra album Exit!

I'm digging the heck of of this thing. Maniacal, cacophonous, incensed music. Its too pretty to be Swans, but I get the same feels out of this record.

Default Eddie Palmieri - Cobarde

The shirt he's wearing on the cover has a mushroom image on it, okay. Very subtle. This gets crazy:

Dude... this sounds like they've used modplug tracker. That's what we (me and my friends various "bands") used in my high school days to make retarded messes like this song (now we use Reason :-p):

UMW- Cunting Faggot

Ah... those were the days. No worries like finances or jobs. Just making shitty music and shitty videoclips to go with it. Unfortunately, this is one of the only surviving clips

This is some good shit. I get a Mingus vibe, and boy do I ever love Mingus. Not enough people doing experimental big band these days, I tell ya!

Brian Eno - Ali Click

OP sourced video from an Eno documentary, hence the scrolling quote and abrupt ending.
