I've been listening to a lot of early HALCALI for the past day or so. I played Ongaku no Susume for the first time in months yesterday afternoon, because I was feeling a bit blue and that album never fails to cheer me up. Then I learned about Charisma.com, listened to their stuff, and that prompted me to pull out my copy of BACON. Here are a couple of my favorite tracks (though, of course, I think almost every song on their first two albums is a gem).
The first is a classic Rip Slyme era song. Pure fun.
The second is my favorite B side from their second album. Lusher, more sophisticated production, and as much singing as rapping, which caused me to be initially resistant to this album's charms.
And soon after this, Sony Music got ahold of them and fucked everything up really fast. |
