Symmetrical Track Listings
so in Ringo lore we have discussed her track listings and symmetry and it while I've heard it discussed I've never paid it to much attention. When I noticed great discrepency between iTunes track times and my own, which are from cd rips, I wanted to look at the official track times according to the wiki and discovered that even amongst the official track times it has differed slightly be a second or so. but even so, I have no discovered symmetry amongst her track times for her earlier work.
what does everyone know about this? I thought SS and KZK were supposed to be symmetrical in titles and lengths... |

KZK = 44:44 and it is official, I remember it had been mentioned somewhere along with the disc.
edit: Sometimes the cd rip software you use may add/minus a certain seconds in each song, according to your setting. |

I've added up iTunes, Wiki, and my personal track times and nothing for KZK matches 44:44
where are you guys pulling these numbers from? maybe we should just be comparing track lengths. mine goes something like this 1.508 2.346 3.345 4.301 5.510 6.352 7.237 8.546 9.245 10.341 11.513 if I add them all up its just short of 44:44. I'm thinking that the symmetrical track listings must be timed for that amount of total playback in an actual physical system which would implement spacing between tracks? perhaps? Iunno im just making shit up now lol |

My numbers come from secure ripped CD's, so the times on my files are the exact same as the CD.

when you consider the total time of the cd and 1 or 2 seconds shaved off for each track in dead space, etc, I suppose it adds up quite fast and can easily make for that 20 second difference that I think I would see in the end. most of my stuff was just ripped through iTunes so the track times and all that are imported through Gracenote and it usually is the same as the official, but what baffles me is even the official times as reported on wikipedia and other sites are still short of the grand total.
I think these times were designed at a time to be symmetrical when running from an actual cd player and not for ripping and digital reproduction. Perhaps if I put my KZK in an actual cd player I could check but its halfway across the country ;-; |

wow, that is weird. maybe my calculation just sucks cuz my run times are almost the exact same as yours, minus a few of mine which are a second longer than yours. overall though, mine should longer if anything based on that....WEIRD
