Films about internet, TV or press
Hey there!
For English class I have to write an essay (pretty big deal... will be a big part of my graduation next year) about films dealing with the internet, TV and press - in order to do that, I'm trying to make a list of some that I can use for that. Now I'm asking for your help, as I hope, that there are people here, that have seen more movies than me and stuff. So if you can think of any titles, that may be helpful for me, tell me!! Thx a lot in advance ^_- MBF |

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Strike back used the internet as its main catalyst.
Death to Smoochy is about tv Almost Famous is about the press (there are more famous examples out there, these just were in my dvd binder)

I can help you out big-time but first tell me if the movies have to cover all 3 of those topics, or just 1 or 2? Oh, and don't bother with anything written/directed by Kevin Smith (i.e. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) Last edited by Nimh : 2007.06.18 at 01:03 PM. Reason: ---to uphold the standards of cinema |

it's ok, if they only cover one or two of the topics - doesn't matter ^^

The internet plays quite a prominent role in All About Lily Chou-Chou.

Yes, Lily Chou-Chou is the best "internet" movie I've ever seen. It was even conceived on the internet, so there's lots of meta-work you can do in a paper. Amazingly, there aren't a lot of movies about the internet. Chou-Chou is in rare company. Most of the ones that are, are lame thrillers like "The Net" or "Fear Dot Com." Another good one is Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "Kairo" (Pulse). Now, good movies about TV and/or the press that will stimulate "paper thought": Network All the President's Men The Candidate Broadcast News The Insider Shattered Glass Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy Good Night, and Good Luck Being There The Right Stuff |

Try Breaking News (Hong Kong), by Jonnie To. It's about how the police manipulates the media to convince the public that they've got a high profile bomb case under control but in reality are actually scrambling around the case.
