Did anything interesting happen during the awards, I stopped tuning in like in 2003.

Hope the audience wasn't treated to another performance of that crappy Katy Perry song. Ugh.

They descended even further into irrelevance. They handed Britney Spears 3 awards for stuff she did last year and are clearly trying to hype a comeback for her.

The funniest part was after the show, all the MTV interviewers kept asking people "So what are you doing after the show/which party are you going to?!" and everybody they asked said something to the effect of "well, I'm probably going home..." which cued the hapless interviewer to try to play up the "omg theyre totally gonna party all night anyway partyings good and stars party dont you wish you were a star so you could party" lifestyle mtv loves so.
