I can never compare Yapoos to Togawa solo. HYS is the best Yapoos album.
Newer Togawa is miles better than newer Ringo btw.

I personally have all of my Ringo/Jihen stuff in one thing. And all of my Togawa/Yapoos/Guernica stuff in one thing. I used to separate it all but now it's all organized chronologically so it's cool.
I do agree that newer Togawa is better than newer Ringo but I can barely listen to it HYS. And I freaking love the first two Yapoos albums. Might have to give it another go. But I don't know... it's such a big departure from what I like in them. And I could've swore you said Daitenshi no You ni was your favorite Yapoos album in a post a few years back. You change your mind often? |

Yes it is true that I loved Daitenshi no you Ni the most for quite a long time. But after a long while I came to realise that HYS just has so much more depth to it than any other Yapoos album. There are times on it where it's absolutely cathartic and the choruses reach even loftier heights than Red Tank on Dial Y. It all culminates with the most rapturous, droning track they ever did " あたしもうぢき駄目になる", which I believe perfectly captures the state of the band just before they dissolved. Togawa has never sounded so possessed and I find it to be the most poweful moment of all the Yapoos albums. Other than that, the rest of the tracks are simultaneoulsy focussed and apeshit. It has a perfect running time that never wears out its welcome and I find it a perfect farewell to the band. (CD-Y of course exists, but it is only a taster of a scrapped album).

I bought the Banks album (was on sale at Kmart for like 5 bucks) on a whim after a million people were talking about it. Was not impressed :-( Maybe in time
I'll revisit it today
