Sorry to double post, but I just noticed that most of the music I listen to I found this year!!!! This mainly has to do with the fact that I bought a 30 GB Zune early in the year. Before, I only had a 1 gb mp3 player and so I ddint feel the need to get new music because what I already had couldnt fit on it. After I upgraded, I needed stuff to fill it up with!! And thanks to Glath's continual audio education, I've become addicted to lossless audio!! (Well what us normal people consider lossless, right, glath )

1.Hanne Hukkelberg (thanks justriiingo!) She's my new goddess now.
2.ACO
3.Psapp
4.Tin Hat Trio
5.Xiu Xiu
6.Higurashi Aiha

These are some of the most brilliant music I bumped into. There're other artists that provoked my interest, too. But if I list all of them there would be too many.

I really love some of the artists you mentioned, like Elliott Smith and Aimee Mann.

(i'll only add bands which I've heard more than 1 song from XD )

Arctic Monkeys, i'm sooo glad I discovered them, i love all their songs
Flight of the Conchords, lol thanks to HBO's series
IOSYS, thanks to LadyMercury :3 hehe thanks merky
Judy and Mary, I had one song from them for the longest time but this is the first time I started listening more
Yuki, same as above, I loved her openings to the honey and clover series but until this year I hadn't downloaded any of her albums
Miss Li, i actually found her on Myspace just browsing, awesome music
Round Table feat. Nino, heard their anime openings before, downloaded their albums this year
The Sex Pistols, I wouldn't exactly say I 'discovered' them, I've known about them forever as I'm sure everyone else has, but this year I had a crazy Sex Pistols phase where I downloaded tons of their songs, just because I felt punky after watching Nana, also Sid Vicious has the same birthday as me
Suemitsu and the Suemith, heard their opening for Nodame and wanted to hear more
Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, for the longest time I had a song that Shiina and them did together and it wasn't till this year that I decided to look into them more, and I'm soo soo glad I did. They're awesome.

K, that's all for this year.

Oh you know Xiao Xiao! Some of my friends (even indie-inclined ones) have a thing for her cuteness.

The name Xiu Xiu came from the name of main female character in "the sent-down girl" (Tian Yu, 天浴, directed by Joan Chen and starring Li Xiaolu as Xiu Xiu). It was such a hopeless gloomy story that left me speechless for a long time after watching it.

That's the movie about the city girl who was sent down to some farm in the middle of nowhere in China, tried all ways and means to get back to the city, paid with her virginity and ended up being some kind of prostitute to the local officials, got an illegal abortion and still didn't get back to the city? Man, that movie was depressing.

I really liked K8's crazy performances of Zukkoke Otokomichi <3 They're good boyband crack, but I haven't really been following them before/after that single.

My new music for 2007:

- CSS - from someone on LJ
- Blonde Redhead - from someone at work
- M.I.A. - thanks Orenji!!
- YUI (I only got into her this year) from my roommate

I also intended to check out Asobi Seksu but even though I included Citrus in my list to Santa, I didn't get it.

I also went back on a big Ajico/UA phase but they were not new discoveries, just rediscoveries...

Although if I had to name an "Artist of the Year 2007" for me that would be GO!GO!7188. I had the chance to see them live in March, and their latest album totally renewed my faith.

Oh man! So many artists for me this year.

Fiona Apple - Her album When the Pawn Hits... is so cool. Extraordinary Machine and Tymps are also fantastic songs.

Bloc Party - Saw them live in August, and they're the best live band I've ever seen. A Weekend in the City is a must-listen, if only for the first half. Silent Alarm is, in the words of my friend, "the best debut album of any band ever in the history of time."

Muse - For sheer musical talent! Saw them in November, so not too long ago. I was astounded by Matt Bellamy's ability. He sings pitch-perfect vocals while playing hardcore piano solos, then 2 seconds later he's got a guitar and he's playing the most technically difficult stuff! Absolution is probably my favourite album ever (aside from KZK!).

Polysics - I really need to see them live. Next year hopefully! Aaah!

Flight of the Conchords - I only started listening to them because my friend's mum used to babysit one of them. Man, am I glad I did. Funny stuff.

Bjork - She has some crazy ideas, but I mostly like the way her music turns out. Medulla is awesome. For some reason it makes me laugh, a lot.

Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden
The dance band heavily influenced by 70s Electric Miles

I knew Kikuchi Naruyoshi before he formed DCPRG
and I began to listen DCPRG after he stop it.

UA
I knew her name years before but didn't know
how she involved my favorite musicans like Uchihashi Kazuhisa,
Kikuchi Naruyoshi and Sotoyama Akira.

Underground Searchlie
I have been a fan of Ohtsuki Kenji and his band Kinniku Shoujotai
from late 1988 when he hosted midnight radio show (All Night Nippon).

This is temporary project when his band stopped activity in 1998
but I found how this project was experimental and my farorite
(avant-grande) musicans was involved in this year 2007.

My 2006 musican was Shiina Ringo.
I heard about her when she put Honnou PV.
Actually I remembered she was a topic at my music friend's
personal BBS and Kikuchi Naruyoshi (he often posted this
fan board at that time) also mentions her.

But I began to listen her in 2006.

I am such a behind man.

So am I. The times when I was very active in discovering new stuff was when AudioGalaxy was still a P2P giant. The thing had the best system for this very purpose.
