Seconded, mostly on your mention of Loveholic. Volumes 2 & 3 are especially worth checking out, and Volume 3.5 for the cover of Happy Xmas (War is Over) alone.

I would have killed myself if I could only afford one album and bought Variety over Citrus, the self-titled Asobi Seksu album, or even the Stay Awake vinyl.

It doesn't have as good of a recording as it's even more indie than Citrus, but there are some really good songs on it. It's Too Late, Sooner, Umi De No Jisatsu, and Stay are very good.
