I was just waiting for a chance to use these....I have a bunch. *loves Caturday* Anyway...went back to it, and I don't like Hyde's version either. It sounded different when I heard it on my friend's PC. And I don't quite care for Girugamesh's version.

I prefer female vocals. whenever i decide to look for music in a new country i automatically go for the female artists.
obviously, their voices are not as monotonous and they can get away with more pitches and complicated vocals. to be female and sing is a lot harder than males, i believe, since you have to be in more control of the pitches. and what you end up w is art

omg hyde glamorous sky is soooo bad
mika nakashima he is not (nor is mika quite Ringo....) oh and to be relevant to the thread DAMES all the way. There is just something more expressive and more appealing to me in a females voice, can't explain way. |

Male vocals I like:
Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Matt Bellamy, Thom Yorke, Michael W. Smith, Rob Thomas, Peter Furler, Phil Joel, Billy Corgan, Billy Joel, Reese Roper, Rich Mullins, lead singers of Fumido, Incubus, Spitz, Remioromen, Monkey Majik Female vocals I like: Shiina Ringo, Chihiro Onitsuka, Meg Frampton, Bonnie Pink, Faye Wong, Utada Hikaru, Ayaka Hirahara, Michelle Branch, Lee Soo Young, Park Hye Kyung, Park Ki Young, Norah Jones, Miki Fujimoto, Tomoko Kawase, Kathy Troccoli, Kaela Kimura, Ayumu (of Zwei), Emi Hinouchi, Fayray, Angela Aki, Eiko Matsumoto, Yorico, Karen Carpenter I've come to the conclusion that I prefer male vocals when they're in English, but when it comes to singing that I don't understand, I prefer women. I think I'm seeing a connection here... I have never understood women or how they act, but after analyzing my taste in vocals, it seems like I prefer not to understand them, either. :p |

I think I pretty much agree with Fluffie. I don't really have a preference though. Whatever sounds good. It just so happens that the male to female ratio of singers in western bands is dominated by males, so by percentage alone I will likely find more male singers I like. That isn't to say I prefer them though. Out of my favourite artists, it's probably 60/40 male. When it comes to Asian artists however, I do have a preference for females.

As good of a list that was, Fluffie, you auto-fail for not including Cocco and Mikami Chisako.

I don't really like black female singers.
As for everyone else, it really depends on the music.
