Which Song Represents...
The idea of this thread is to choose a song which you think best represents an emotion or period. I thought about it last night in bed when The Shins - New Slang came on, and I thought to myself "This is the happiest song ever" then I started to think of other songs which represented other things. Here's a few categories for you to consider, and feel free to add your own.
Happy Song: Sad Song: Summer Song: Winter Song: Epic Song: Beautiful Song: Guilty Pleasure: 60's: 70's: 80's: 90's: 00's: For any category, the decades specifically, you don't have to pick your favourite song from that decade, just the one you think best captures the essence of that time. For example, A Day In The Life by the Beatles is my favourite song of all time, but I wouldn't put it as my 60's song, as it isn't very 60's. Maybe something like "She loves you" would be more suitable. Anyway, here's my answers: Happy Song: The Shins - New Slang Sad Song: John Lennon - Mother Summer Song: Madonna: La Isla Bonita Winter Song: Hmm... for some reason the Home Alone theme keeps popping into my head! Epic Song: The Beatles - A Day in The Life Beautiful Song: Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek Guilty Pleasure: Scatman John - Scatman RIP 60's: Jimmy Hendrix - Magic Carpet Ride 70's: Hmm. Can't decide between Black Sabbath - Paranoid, or Led Zeppelin - Black Dog. And of course Kool & the Gang - Jungle Boogie . 80's: Should really say Metallica - Seek and Destroy for encapsulating what real 80's metal was about (None of that cock rock glam shite), but I'm going to have to say Come On Eileen 90's: I really want to choose Radiohead - Creep (Would prefer Paranoid Android, but I think Creep captures more of the essence of the 90's British Rock vibe. Sure, Wonderwall would probably be a better choice for that, but ... Radiohead own oasis. Anyway, it's going to have to be The Spice Girls - Wannabe. 00's: The Libertines - Up The Bracket, for bringing British Rock back from the brink of destruction, and stealing the charts back from the abundance of Hip-Hip, R&B and cheese pop)
