Couldn't YouTube everything and I'm a little too lazy to upload the songs today so...
Happy Song: Acidman - Your Song Sad Song: The Cardigans - Losing a Friend Summer Song: Ajico - Freedom Winter Song: Luna Sea - White Out Epic Song: Luna Sea - Virgin Mary - This could fit as either an epic or a beautiful song, but I chose to put it here. Beautiful Song: Stevie Ray Vaughan - Lenny - Can't you just feel the emotions he has for his wife just by listening to it? Guilty Pleasure: N/A 60's: The Doors - Break on Through (To the Otherside) 70's: Don McLean - American Pie 80's: Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast - The first mainstream metal band to have the balls to actually say "666" in a song. 90's: Stone Temple Pilots - Sex Type Thing 00's: The Strokes - Someday - A lot of the music I like in the 00's sounds retro. This song also makes me reminisce about the past quite a bit.

Happy Song: Tiny Tim—Tiptoe Thru the Tulips
Sad Song: Me'shell Ndegeocello—Bitter Summer Song: Tokyo Jihen—OSCA (do I really need to link this?) Winter Song: No question, Björk—Aurora (Though this is the first time I've heard "Garlands" by Tori Amos... wow. Thanks, kuro_neko!) Epic Song: Joanna Newsom—Only Skin (too epic to fit on one Youtube video! But search it out, it's astonishing.) Beautiful Song: Kate Bush—Army Dreamers (Though this is given a run for its money by the Laurie Anderson song below, which is a very different kind of beauty.) Guilty Pleasure (yaaay): RuPaul—Supermodel 60's: The Beatles—A Day In The Life 70's: Kate Bush—Wuthering Heights 80's: Laurie Anderson—O Superman (For Massenet) (oh my god so good please listen to it it's a vital track in modern music/electronic music history!) 90's: Alanis Morissette—Ironic 00's: Radiohead—Everything In Its Right Place |

er... *speechless*
I think if the Spice Girls ever sang a cover of "I'm not in love" it would sound like this. Haha.

I find that for the decade songs I end up having to list two to encompass my feelings of them...
Happy Song: Don't Mess With the Dragon - Ozomatli I like how a Latin funk group can turn otherwise generic Southern snap/crunk into something that's actually fun (no offense). Sure, the lyrics aren't mind-blowing, but it's lifting. Sorry for no link. Sad Song: Canta Per Me - Kajiura Yuki Noir much? (note: links to nonvocal piano + string quartet Eminence Otakon 2007 performance) Summer Song: Deep Into the Night - Hiromi's Sonicbloom Some people view the summer as a super-active party season, but I love the nights the most, and this always makes me think of them. Winter Song: Super Mario's Sleigh Ride - The OneUps Sorry, I'm a nerd. (note: links to a weird project combining Metal Gear Solid with Santa Claus, but a sample of the music is used) Epic Song: Go Tight! - AKINO Yeah, I really don't have an epic song, so I thought I'd just use my favorite anime opening. ; Beautiful Song: Chanto tsukandemasu kara w - Face 2 fAKE The Densha Otoko TV drama is the closest anything's ever gotten to making me cry out of emotion. (Yes, you can laugh if you want, but no tears were shed! Still very touching, though.) I attribute it mostly to scenes containing this song. Guilty Pleasure: The☆Peace! / Renai Revolution 21 / Souda! We're ALIVE - Morning Musume Yes, Morning Musume's singles off of 4th 「Ikimasshoi!」 are my guilty pleasures. In my defense, this was also back when they were good and had Dance Man composing some of their tracks. 60s: (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding | California Girls - Beach Boys Your standard non-Beatles fare. I'll let the others sift through their library if they feel like it. 70s: What Is Hip? - Tower of Power | Magellan - Yoyoy Villame When I think 70s, I think funk and Filipino novelty songs. I don't know why. >_<; 80s: Super Freak - Rick James | Welcome to the Jungle - Guns N' Roses Did not particularly like the 80s in terms of music; Queen was only good in the late 70s (opinion), and like the Beatles in the 60s, I don't want to reference a specific Michael Jackson song. Never was into the metal scene, either... 90s: Shame on a Nigga / Da Mystery of Chessboxin' - Wu-Tang Clan This decade is hard due to the fact I actually find it the least memorable, probably because I had to live through it in my early years. Since I hated pop music, thought the new wave stuff sucked, and am still apathetic to anything outside of the rap boom, here are two Wu-Tang Clan songs. 00s: Life Is Beautiful - m-flo ♥ DOUBLE & TOKU | Fan - Epik High Temporary placeholders until 2010. You said we could add one if we wanted, so... Sentimental Romantic: Karada - Tokyo Jihen Actually, I have a lot of these kinds of songs in storage (you know, just in case), but this is the one I like at the moment. Just wanted to give you an idea. I may like that song too much... |
