PV symbolism
So I was just watching the PV for the new single, Sora ga Natteiru, and I screencapped this part:
A wee bit on the morbid side, don't you think? I was reminded of another instance where Ringo performs the symbolic act of carving up an apple. (from Ringo Expo 08) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pK2wZJk4jFI Perhaps it's just that I don't pay enough attention - but is there a specific message being sent when an artist destroys something that very literally represents themselves? What do you think? On that note, are there any other symbolic devices that you have wondered about? An artist like Ringo doesn't choose imagery arbitrarily, so there's gotta be something she's trying to say! I have my theories.... but I want to hear some other ideas first! |

You know the peeling may not be destruction but a renewing of the self. Just another thought on that.

I caught that instantly, and as you may know, it's also the image on the CD cover for the Gibusu single.
What does it mean? Women and apples have been together since the Old Testament. Only thing missing is a snake. |
