I like this song. The organ is too loud, but apart from that I like it. The song has a hymnlike feel up until 1:22 that makes the organ a nice touch. I love her singing on this as well. She needs to do this kind of earnest, belting-it-out singing more often.

lol, I just had a go a translating this myself: http://www.nipponthebus.com/?p=2600
It was my first attempt at translating anything and I found it quite difficult to get the constant mentions of hearts into nice sentences so I left them out a bit. I do have a question too frecklegirl, why did you translate the last line as "You’ll make..." rather than "Let me..." or "Allow me..."? Translating things is hard..... Translating a cover? Wouldn't there be a translation of the original somewhere? Are the lyrics different in the TJ version?

If I were translating the last two lines I'd make it a little softer, though. "You remind me of my hometown sky." |

I agree with Nimh on the last lines. The softer line isn't as literal, but it helps convey the softer, hopeful feeling of the song.

Eh, I stand by what I had. I know I'm more of a literal translator, I don't like overly figurative translations that are more about "the gist" than reflecting what is actually being said in words. I try to translate all verb tenses and most words the same, and that's how I translate causative tense.
Also, I translated this using lyrics I found on uta-net (Japanese lyrics site) from other pre-existing versions of the song, and I listened to the cover to make sure the lyrics were the same. So I can't say the spacing is correct with how Tokyo Jihen might have it but the words are. Will I post this on my site... not for a while, not until it gets a legitimate release somewhere (I bet it will). If the next album/single (after Sora/Onna) comes out without it, then I will, but I'd prefer to wait until it's part of a release. That's why I put it here! For eeeveryone who's ever studied Japanese to nitpick... |
