Not sure yet but at least the song and drama are already better than Smile. It sounds like I won't like that it's in English cause she's over-pronouncing. Other than that sounds like a good song. We'll see.

jazz standard...standard jazz. haha
I like the vibe from the song clip even if a sample the chorus is absent. Its sounds more SR than TJ style. |

I agree, it does seem much more SR than TJ. I like the simplicity to the song, from what can be heard. It's a nice contrast to what she usually does.

Judging from the bits that we could hear from Ariamaru Tomi at the time, and also with that anime theme taht ended up in Variety, usually these song snippets give a very false idea of what the rest of the song will end up like.
The first seconds were promising, because of those bells that she was using to generate the melody, but I am still having trouble coping with the way she sings in English. And eventually those more interesting sounds just give way to yet another one of those dragged jazz lines... Every time I hear these snippets, I just end up saying it sounds like an OK song... And it does end up like an OK song. But hasn't she done enough jazz stuff to last for a while already? Oh well... Nevermind. I remain cautiously optimistic. They have to earn their bread, after all. Commercials, drama series, anime, fashion... That is the inevitable fate of all famous and semi-famous artists in Japan.

You can hear a bit more of the song on:
http://gogock.blog.shinobi.jp/Entry/2083 Seems like it ramps up a bit a la Yukigini (Or maybe Fukushuu XD) Let it load in the background, then go to 00:23, 01:32, then at the end 19:20 Last edited by Scribble R : 2010.07.04 at 09:56 AM. |

IMO, and judging from the preview, I think that it sounds a little "Yukiguni"-ish, but also reminds me of Tomosaka Rie's "Kodomo no Joukei", that was produced by... ta-dah! Shiina Ringo. Last edited by Orenji : 2010.07.04 at 02:05 PM. |

1:32 is the bit where it cuts to an image of Chiaki Kuriyama (?) and Ringo sings "I want to suck and drink your life! Raaaaaaaaaa..." [Feeeeeeever burns on a brand new day!] ...right?

BTW, I love Chiaki-san . She debuted as a singer some months ago, by the name of CHiAKi KURiYAMA:
Love her nose lol. Last edited by Orenji : 2010.07.04 at 03:03 PM. |
