Default Wha-ha-ha

Wha-ha-ha was preceded project in 1981 by
Sakata Akira(sax,vo), Ogawa Mishio(vo), Chino Shuichi(key) and Kamiya Shigetoku (g).
guest :Murakami "ponta" Shuichi (dr), Semba Kiyohiko (per), Kawabata Tamio, Fuse Takafumi.

Sakata was a member of Free Jazz unit Yamashita Yosuke trio in 70s.
They made musical interpretation of Tsutsui Yasutaka's novels.
It could be one of source of Wha-ha-ha/Haniwa/Killing Time type movement.

I can't believe I haven't said THANK YOU EmilScherbe for this outstanding thread yet, I do it now. I really appreciate this, it's pure gold.

By the way, I have two questions:

1) Is Taikusai featured on another album apart from this? I guess it's a song composed for a sports festival. Anyway, I don't expect to hear a rendition as lively as this one anywhere, that would be just plain impossible.

2) Was Mishio Ogawa's Mizu composed exclusively for this concert? I can't find it anywhere on her discography.

according to Ogawa Mishio's official site:

Taikusai was initially released on Haniwa-Chan album Kanashibari in 1984.see Mutant Sounds
First performance was played by Haniwa-Chan Band in 1984.

Album version was basically same arrange as 1991 live but by smaller band.
The lyrics is about Utopian sports festival of wild animals
like competition between elephant and camel in desert.

Mizu was initially released on Rehabilual album NEW CHILD in 1990.
First performance was played by Ogawa Mishio Band in 1984.

Rehabilual - Mizu

Thanks. The Rehabilual material seems to be pretty much impossible to get.

Edit: Wow, Mizu original version is flawless.
