^ Yeah, I agree. She gives it a good try, but she can't completely nail it.

I kno, that's why i think if she actually did do a Shiina cover, it'll be completely different. She has a voice, just not in that Shiina mold.

Utada Hikaru doesn't have SR's spunk.

where utada lacks in ringo's spunk, she makes up for it in simple yet beautiful lyrics

frecklegirl, you must agree, one listen to almost any of her songs and you can pretty much take the entire song in, one go. That feels good, because even with lyrics sometimes you are like RINGO WTF ARE YOU SINGING (like in Kabuki, I still have to strain to hear the "fuck" in Kabuki)

utada has a very lovely simplicity about her and her music. it might lack the spunk, but it definitely has its own charm.

It was mentioned twice before that post... Unless you have me and JR on ignore.

Hm, it's obvious from "I Won't Last a Day Without You" that their voices are quite different. One is more "trained" for R&B/Soul while the other can actually pull of good voice for many different rock genres, and jazz. I don't think Shiina's voice would match an R&B song, or even something like "Devil Inside".
Hmmm, I think Karada was an R&B-ish song and Ringo did a very nice job on it. Also, just in the pacing and beat-oriented feel of the song, I think Yokushitsu from Shouso Strip is similar to the kind of song the Devil Inside is, and Ringo did that song perfectly. So I think Ringo is very capable of doing something like Devil Inside. It's hard to say, though, because in a way it seems like if she were to sing to the exact same music, it would be odd, but that kind of song is Utada's bread and butter and I think Ringo would do a better job of doing one of her songs than Utada trying a Ringo rawk song, or just something like OSCA.

Anyway, yeah, maybe. We would have to listen to that
I can't really say no, because I can't hide my curiosity for listening Ringo doing something like that. But it would probably just not fit. Her voice is so jazzy
I just meant the beat-oriented nature of the songs, makes them more similar. I didnt' mean that Karada was similar to Devil inside, just that its a song that is more in Utada's style. Although, you're right, it is a bit more Jazzy than RnB, but I think its not too far off.
