I feel like I'm seriously missing something with the first track. It seems like everyone's totally in love with it, but I can't get over the campy 'hidden temple' sound. No matter how great her singing apparently is, to me it sounds like soundtrack music and not the sort of thing you would find on an album - even one where the musicians are attempting to be creative and fresh.

The rest of the album is golden, though still inferior to Sports.

I can't extend very much this review because my limited english. It's more like a critic than a review because is completely subjective.

Variety is unfairly underrated and it seems that Dai-hakken will be exaggeratedly overrated. I got that feeling.

My diagnosis of this album: lack of personality and cohesion. Think again. Remember the "old good times" when SR (and even TJ) made records where every single song counted. Listening to this album I noticed a certain "filler-complex" and incoherence. Many songs (too many) are impersonal, with forgettable melodies and I feel that SR's voice work isn't good enough compared with Sports, for example.

Of course, the album is ok because there are some pretty good songs, musical arrangements and ideas but... the lack of personality and cohesion is obvious.

Let's do this.

01. Tengoku e Youkoso For The Disc: DO LIKE. Yeah, that's the point.
02. Zettaichi tai Soutaichi: DO NOT LIKE... absolutely.
03. Atarashii Bunmei-kaika: DO LIKE. Let's have some fun.
04. Denki no Nai Toshi: DO LIKE... moderately.
05. Kaitei ni Sukuu Otoko: Good idea but… SO-SO.
06. Kinjirareta Asobi: DO LIKE... absolutely.
07. Dopamint! BPM103: DO LIKE... this version.
08. Osorubeki Otona-tachi: DO LIKE. Love it.
09. 21(nijuu-ichi)seiki Uchuu no Ko: DONT LIKE. Nothing special.
10. Katsute wa Otoko to Onna: DONT LIKE... booooriiiing.
11. Sora ga Natteiru: DO LIKE… in another jpop album.
12. Kaze ni Ayakatte Yuke/Ike: nice try and idea but… DONT LIKE.
13. Onna no Ko wa Dare demo: DO LIKE... in Sanmon Gossip.
14. Tengoku e Youkoso For The Tube: UNNECESSARY pseudo-bonus track.

Conclusion:
No personality in too many songs, no feeling and no cohesion in most of the album. The end is deplorable compared with Sports.
Even though, it's a good album. It has some good ideas, some good songs, some good musical arrangements and... what the... I'm a Ringo-junkie!.

Yeah, it's good, but not so good.

Score: 7/10. (Kyouiku >= Adult > Sports >> Variety >= Dai-hakken).

The podium:
  1. Kinjirareta Asobi. (track 6)
  2. Tengoku e Youkoso For The Disc. (track 1)
  3. Osorubeki Otona-tachi. (track 8)

That's all.

Thank you for your time
(reading this english grammar mess), patience and respect.

there's a problem in this album, that doesn't happend in other materials

a week (i don't remember) after the chart of songs appear in the weebsite and forums, they start the promotion of some songs in singles, performance and pv

so o_o if we compare with adult and variety is different ... in those times, after the album come out -> next single and pv, and in this single a b-side and something especial

now 3 days before all the material come out we already know 6 of the songs (tengoku e youkouso-dopamint, atarashi bunmei with pv, sora ga with pv, onna no ko wa with pv)

there isn't to much conexion in the tracks, and u_u no much surprises in the way the songs are performaded (in only a few, others well the frases is: meww)

i like part of this new material ... but is a mix of sports and anothers songs O_o maybe in the next album they'll try a new direction of composition xD or a phase 3

according the the official booklet (which I found the credits in, on page one)

21Seiki Uchuu no Ko is words by Ringo, Music by Kameda and Izawa. If I'm not mistaken that was misprinted in previous track listings posted here.

My hopes for whatever the next Ringo project is:

Either:
- solo album
- something heavily percussion based
- something heavily electronic based
- something heavily traditional/enka style
- Utaite Myori 2.

But I'll take whatever :-p

I definitely think this album lacks cohesion. The lack of a proper ending is part of that. Also, with Sports, every track seemed to relate the theme (Sports) or the musical style somehow. With this, it seems to be less together. I'm only halfway through the album still.

Normally, I would be SO excited to listen to this whole album, I would have already listened to the whole thing. But for some reason I haven't brought myself to just sit down and listen to it. I don't know, this is my first time with an album release as a Shiina fan. It just seems weird.
