Kageri Yuku Heya was originally released in 1976 as Arai Yumi's 7th single
(and last since she married Matsutoya Masataka and changed
her aritist name to Matsutoya Yumi)

According to Wikipedia this song was covered at least 5 times,
Miyako Harumi in 1977, Shimada Kaho in 1992, Shiina Ringo in 1999,
Hatakeyama Miyuki in 2007, Elephant Kashimashi in 2008.

original

the organ was recorded at St. Mary's Cathedral in Tokyo, played by her husband.

Shiina Ringo version

Shiina's take on kageriyuku heya is vastly underrated amongst her own catalog.

I noticed at CD Japan that there is another Yumi Matsutoya cover album and Shiina Ringo's also on this one! anybody know what song she covers and could this be a repackage of Dear Yuming?

It's not the same CD, because the tracklist is different, but Ringo's song is still "Kageriyuku Heya".

There is somewhere around 2-3 different compilation/tribute albums with the same Ringo version Kageriyuku Heya track on them. If you're a collector, then the first one is the only one that matters.

the one I own is Queen's 30th Anniversary edition. It seems they have put out a few, but they all vary with different track listings, except Ringo's is always the same. Ringo was probably one of the biggest artist to contribute, so they keep on putting her contribution on all the releases as a staple. Obviously if your a Yuming fan you might have a preferred edition, but the one I bought, the Queen's edition, is 14 tracks, whereas the first edition was 10 and the more recent one is 12, and if I'm not mistaken all are priced similarly. So....if you could care less about the rest of the package, you might want to go for the "more is more" option and get the best bang for your buck.
