Just finished listening to the full album.

It's pretty embarrassing for most artists involved.

Ringo's ended up being the standout, alongside Ayu.

Shoulda got Jun Togawa to cover Heart Station.

Yea the whole album was a bit too loungey for me. I did really enjoy Miliyah's version of For You, and Hanaregumi's "Flavor of Life" though. The latter in particular feels very winter/xmas appropriate.

The best thing about this tribute album was it prompting me to go back and listen to HEART STATION again. Fuck that's a great album.

The best tracks on there for me were Automatic and Sanctuary. Letters definitely deserves special mention. I almost shed a tear when I realized Ringo switched the ending lyrics into Japanese. Those songs were really, really good... but most of the album does fall flat. There was that moment in For You when Give Me A Reason was slipped in, but there was nothing really great about most of the other tracks for me (besides the variety in styles). Really, this album just makes me want Hikki to come out of hiatus even more... Her music is special.

You know, I like HEART STATION too... but I felt that both covers from this album were some of the most boring. Should have got someone else to do Flavor of Life -- or have done a different song. Stay Gold wasn't much better and sounded very similar to me.

I'm curious, which Utada song do you guys think is better "Hikari" or "Passion"?

Hmm....
I think Hikari's lyrics are really great. It's very popular for college student sin Japan to like that song. Therefore it has like a timeless quality to it, I think.

But I think Passion has a better build up-climax-release structure to it.

They are so different! I guess I'm more frequently in the mood for Hikari. Passion I really need to be in a certain mood for.
