I'd say the primary reason for it being left out of the album is the fact it was written for the drama. We could be glad it is indeed, because she didn't pull an Utada who just HAD to stick Boku wa Kuma on Heart Station even though it totally killed the flow. Seriously, someone should tell her she doesn't have to have all her singles on albums (like when I heard Ultra Blue for the first time and when Colors came on, I was like "let's skip this, it's a bit old after three years"... and the very next track was only TWO years old!)
Back on topic - this single would work great as a 7" vinyl, but they don't do that anymore, do they. Just think about it - Ariamaru Tomi on side A and SG on side B - those two work great as "flipsides" even conceptually. The purity versus the chaos, or going with the comparisons, "the MM" vs. "the KZK". Ahhh... hell, it could even be a 12" with the big sleeve, wouldn't that be just sweet?

I'd like to hear what those crybabies on other japanese music forums who complained about "those ungrateful, snotty, elitist Shiina Ringo fans" have to say about the reception at large for AT.

Ultimately, I think that even the most cynical members here WANT to love her music again.

For me Rakujitsu was heart breaking, and full of emotion. I don't really feel the emotion from AT. It kind of feels stale in a way. I guess after a few more listens I might change my mind, because I believe at first I didn't even care for Rakujitsu.

Edit: XD I'm so late on the Rakujitsu/AT discussion.

The Rakujitsu debate has moved on to another song, Jimmy. Jet with the times! =p

So did I miss the memo that says every slow song Ringo releases is like Rakujitsu?

They do have a striking resemblance at first listen, tho
I don't see people saying "Kuki" HF version resembles "Rakujitsu". (just sayin'~)

Well, I will admit that Shun is more Rakujitsu-esque than Ariamaru Tomi ever was. Especially after we all heard the full version of it. Shun's intro is kind of like Rakujitsu but then it starts to remind me of Kokoro and Tasogare Naki as it goes along. It's definitely jazzier than Rakujitsu.
