So, this is surprisingly enjoyable. It's like they hadn't been gone a day, and settled right back into their shtick quite comfortably (I swear it sounds like they haven't aged a day!) unlike other recent attempts like the new Pixies and (to me at least) the rather unconvincing mbv. 90s nostalgia nerds get your drool cups ready, Mazzy Star are back! (I will see if it turns out to be much more than just that to me though- nostalgia over the next few playthroughs.)

Uugh, is it really good? I was kind of looking forward to the new Mazzy Star, but then when it did finally come out, I got the sinking feeling it wasn't going to be very good and never listened to it?
What do you hold against the mbv album so much?

Its just mbv have gotten followers who have showcased so much more than the blueprint mbv created, it just sounds.... Done to me. I don't find it convincing, would rather listen to Boris take on shoegaze in tracks like Farewell. Lucky then, that Mazzy Star doesnt really have too many notable imitators. They just sound comfortable. Sure, I imagine getting bored of this quick enough, but eh, at least it held my attention for its running time.

I wrote something about mbv a while ago, I think Jihad can relate:
"In Another Way" sounds like a lame remix of Oasis's "Fucking In The Bushes". |

And ANOTHER Seiko Oomori Release.... this time a recording at a church called
"Seiko Oomori at Fujimigaoka Church"... released on OTOTOY and in beautiful HD... (48khz/24 bit WAV plus uncompressed DSD files if you wanna go that way- its quite short and its 2.2 gig all up :-p) is an astonishing and highly nuanced recording. Lots of ambiance and little things sneak in, like wood creaking and gives a wonderfully textured feeling to the whole thing. I had to laugh at someone commenting on last.fm "first she disses Kyary Pamyu Pamyu now she's recording in a church"... indeed, there is something remarkable happening here, and I'm glad to have gotten on the Oomori train early :-p

Listening to The Drones' I See A Seaweed. The singer must have bought discount Nick Cave albums in the CD stores.
