I got some new drums so I'm available to play EMF Band if anyone is up for it. It'll have to be Tuesday or later though, I'm going home for the weekend.

If you want to buy a console just for Rock Band, you have to take into consideration, that they were treating the PS§ like shit, at least in Europe. Rock Band on PS3 came later and not all GH equipment can be used with it.
XBOX is better if it's just Rock Band.

Man I forgot how tiring the drums are. Haven't played them properly in a few months. One go of Battery on expert (I completed it - 96% ) and I'm sweating like a pig.

Bought Guitar Hero Metallica today. Probably the best collection of songs in terms of fun there is on one disc. It starts strong and never ceases. Whereas most music games start off with very simple songs, this does not. But at the same time it isn't stupidly hard like Guitar Hero 3. There is only one song I'm struggling on at the moment (War Ensemble) but I always feel like I'm being challenged. Just pushed beyond comfortable which is much more fun. Even if you're not a Metallica fan (it has many other artists too, by the way) it's still utterly fun. One of my house-mates has had a blast on it and he hates any kind of heavy music.

Double bass drums too. Well, when I get a second pedal

No, at launch there wasn't enough songs for the money (it's probably cheaper now though). Plus the AC/DC song on Rock Band 2 I find is pretty boring. RB:AC/DC looks more like something for fans of AC/DC; it's more of a track pack whereas I think GH:M is more open to all fans of Rhythm games a la The Beatles: Rock Band. It definitely won't beat GHM for variety and challenge. 18 songs vs 49.

-------------------------------

Harmonix announced Rockband Network. They're opening the floodgates to community songs; giving away the tools for anybody to create Rock Band tracks if they have the master tracks and put them up onto the new community section of the Rock Band store. This is awesome news for anybody in a band or any solo artist wanting to get their music recognised, but even more awesome for us players who will have access to thousands of more songs. Labels can now choose to put up entire albums on release day without asking Harmonix if they will do it (which will likely result in 3 tracks going up) or wait in a queue. The Sub-Pop label, for example, has claimed it is going to put all of it's major releases up via the Rockband Network. Look at their artists! Open beta starting in August for the 360, full store open by the end of the year. More info.

There is a fantastic New York Times article on the game, and the genre in general here, which Tesla linked to in the official Beatles thread. It really is worth a read. It also confirms that the first 3 full albums for DLC to be available shortly after release will be 'Abbey Road', 'Rubber Soul' and 'Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band'

The final song they kept secret. My guess is either 'A Day In The Life', 'Hey Jude', 'Free As A Bird' or 'Help!'. Help! is the strangest omission, but I would have also liked to see Strawberry Fields, Happiness Is A Warm Gun, A Day In The Life and Hey Jude or Let It Be. Not to worry, there's also DLC.
