Okay let's rewind here on the Mystery thing. That was a name MADE UP here at EMF and we need to not get too carried away with it because EMF does not actually decide album titles.

Now I do agree with you that it sounds like after the earthquake Ringo decided to make more genuine, less conceptual music. But Mystery? That came from here not from anywhere legit.

That's totally right. And that "mystery" logo you guys are talking about (that one that could be seen at the end of the Onna PV) depicts a magnifying glass which can be directly related to the whole discovery thing.

OMG, I can't believe that I didn't see that in the video! this logo it's really beautiful! but I don't see the connection with the discovery thing... Would you mind telling me more about what you think, Orenji?

Oh, and of course, if anyone wants to talk about it, it's more than welcome.

Well, magnifying glasses are usually used (well, if they are even used these days, haha) by someone who wants to examine or explore something that could lead to a big discovery (LOL). Of course, aesthetically they are also linked to the "mystery" world. We all have seen those glasses in spy movies and all, so that's why some of us came up with the idea of the album being titled Mystery. Even if you check Wikipedia you can find that:

The magnifying glass is an icon of detective fiction, particularly that of Sherlock Holmes.

In the real world, people short of sight, predominately senior citizens, use magnifying glasses. That's the most common usage in real life. Senior Society of Citizens

You guys won't believe how dumb I am. I thought the logo we were talking about was the one behind the "shiinas", the one with the lines (I loved that one), not the one you were referring to. I'm dumb AND blind. (I can't stop laughing at my own stupidity! ahahhaa)

YES. a big YES. It makes all sense. Thanks for answering my useless question anyway
(oh, and I have a magnifying glass ahahahahaa)

Now I'm even using the image as avatar... So I don't forget we are talking about this logo, not the other one!

jackmanca, please try not to double post. Thanks

This is my first time getting a closer look at that logo. When I look at the magnifying glass and I think of the term "dai-hakken," what that makes me think of is scientific or academic discoveries or breakthroughs. I think of like, "Eureka!" and scientists. It's a very intriguing logo!

I love the line thing too- that would be awesome as an album cover

Oh really? I thought Ringo always checked EMF before she named her albums. This was pure conjecture, I didn't pass it off as fact. Hence me saying "I think". However, I think it's an educated guess, because there was likely a time they were planning on following the pattern set by previous albums. "Onna no Ko wa Dare Demo" and "Tengoku e Youkoso" both have a noir tinge, so it's not too far off.

I didn't take "Mystery" from any member of EMF. I made that guess myself immediately upon seeing the logo. I mean, there's so many TV genres you can choose from, and the album could have easily been named 迷宮 (ミステリー) or something similar.

It wasn't just you sort of assuming that Mystery was an actual, real working title--you were just the latest and sort of a springboard, and I felt the need to nip it in the bud before anyone else got confused and thought that was somehow real in any way. I'd wanted to say things sooner to other people, but figured it wasn't that serious, and then it popped back up again and I had to say something.
