Thank you everyone who got me playing Pitfall again...
Hey newyorkjihen, ? Is that where your avatar comes from? (I assume so, but I wanted to ask anyways.) I got to that part of the game and I thought the money bag looked vaguely familiar. [ I thought Pitfall had an end to it.. I'm slightly disappointed by the obstacle loop. :-| ] Last edited by fluffiethesock : 2007.06.20 at 10:09 PM. |

Yes yes cash money avatar! (probably not for long)
*sarcasm* Pitfall is soooo much better than pong. */sarcasm* I think I read somewhere there are 256 screens, and the maximum score possible is 114,000 points. When I was a kid I didn't like pitfall very much, too boring. But now that's the whole point. Most Atari games are retarded of course, but I had to check a cheat sheet online so I could finish "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in my emulator. That game is nonsensical but has always intrigued me. But for real emulator coolness, I have an Apple ][e emulator. Castle Wolfenstein, the Ultima series, Bilestoad, Karateka, Lode Runner, Wizardry, Conan, Ancient Art of War at Sea, Swashbuckler, Aztec, Montezuma's Revenge, Star Blazers, and Dung Beetles were some of my favorites as a kid. Apple has an official FTP site where you can download ALL the games (one at a time though, and you're only supposed to download the games that you paid for...) Castle Wolfenstein: If anyone is interested I might be able to help find that FTP site. |

Lode Runner! That game was super-addictive. I'd love to have that if it's downloadable (in it's classic incarnation, of course). |

ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II lode runner (there are several versions, I'd get them all) is here: ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple...s/games/action Of course if you navigate one folder up there are other categories, like adventure, sports, strategy, etc... I use OSX][, but one thing that sucks is it messes with the sound card, so I can't listen to iTunes without getting this weird distortion: http://apple2.intergalactic.de/download.html OSX][ is for Mac, but I read someone recommend applewin for windows: ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/emulators There are like fifty versions of it, I don't know which one to use. One of these days I'll try to find one for Mac that doesn't F up the music I'm listening to. OSX][ comes with APPLE.ROM & DISK.ROM already in the roms folder. I hope applewin has the rom images already installed. If not there were some roms in this folder: ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/masters ...but I don't know which one. Maybe prodos? If not try downloading OSX][ & getting the roms from it. I bet applewin will come with them. Also, don't expect a fast download. That server is so slow I think it's actually hosted on an apple][e. Edit: don't forget the Lode Runner Data Disk and Championship Lode Runner Last edited by newyorkjihen : 2007.06.21 at 04:03 PM. |

Anybody else who is not interested in this game?
My highlights this year will be Smash brothers online and (hopefully this year) Dragon Quest 9

Finally. I was always bothered how Rockstar was always bound up to release their games on an inferior platform way ahead of the platforms that made the games justice.
