i discovered shiina ringo when i were at a myspace-profile and the song playing there were nothing else but "Gibs". I got curious, and started searched after more music of Shiina on youtube and became somewhat obsessed and got the sakuran-movie and today i got the Shouso Strip-album! I just recently started to listen to Tokyo Johen to, but i prefer Shiina as a soloartist. my gosh, she's my favorite soloartist ever!

Well, I'm new, so I might as well share my experience. I was talking to someone on aim one night, and she was asking me all kinds of questions. One of them was "who's your favorite female artist?" and I stopped for a moment, and couldn't think of one. She said her favorite was Shiina Ringo, to which I replied "I've heard of her..."
She sent me a link to the video for Yami ni Furu Ame. Right away I was impressed. (I'm a sucker for string instruments, and layered melodies, and somewhat eccentric vocals) So from then on I've been getting more and more into her work. |

That's how you start, you listen to one and you have to listen more.
Welcome to the forums Ruka. Ah! You could probably tell your friend about EMF as well ;P |

Then talk to her again starting now. Unless she's a bitch who broke your heart.

I first heard of Ringo when a friend sent me the Kabukicho no jo'ou PV through MSN.
I didn't like it at first, but a few days after I watched, I found myself humming it without thinking.. it was stuck in my head. D:! Kinda like cigarettes in a way.. at first you smoke one.. until the nicotine kicks in and leaves you sputtering for more. So, I watched the Identity PV on youtube, and I was like wtf. o.o this girl's wierd. ..I like that. :] So I googled her and found this effin' HUGE torrent with nearly all of her songs. Needless to say, I dl'd it. But I still feel guilty for stealing from such a great artist. Yattsuke Shigoto. ishiki, and Okonomide were the three songs that actually foored me.. no other songs did that before.. But its all good. i'm buying physical copies now. I found an almost new copy of Shouso Strip in a chinatown bookstore that was closing down. I still smile everytime I think about my luck. I'm ordering Muzai Moratorium and KSK soon. almost 2 months worth of allowance; I have to get a job to feed my addiction. XD |

2007, I was tired of listening to music in general and I wanted something original and new for once.
So, I went on youtube and typed in "Jrock bands" on the search. First thing that popped up was Tokyo Jihen's Kurumaya-san performance on Dynamite OUT. Then it snowballed towards Killer Tune, Osca, etc. etc. I think because of that fateful day, I believe I was destined to be a fan of Shiina Ringo. |

I love reading these stories...
I'm surprised TJ was anywhere near the first page when searching 'jrock bands'. It's all fan videos for visual kei bands these days. |
