I guess I should say sorry, but Superstar is one of my Least favourite songs of Jihen ever. Before Variety at least. It just never ever worked for me. I almost always skip it.

Tramp is soooo much better than Dynamite :|

Actually, my high school did the play that "The Lady is a Tramp" was from. I was so excited when I heard it, but I was a little disappointed that it was so inferior to TJ's version.

I do like Superstar, it's just not one of my favorites. It definitely has that rock anthem quality to it, though--lighters held high, arms swaying back and forth.

As for Tramp vs. Dynamite, my money's on Dynamite. Uh.

I've never really thought of Superstar as one of TJ's best songs, but then again, I just usually don't like the slower songs. I do agree, though, to it being a rather good song. Kameda has his moments (Toumei Ningen <3)

And... uh... Dynamite > Tramp.

I actually don't mind Kameda's songs at all. Okay, maybe Shiseikatsu/Private Life/Backstage does feel like a bit of a retread of Superstar (I wouldn't have thought of it before reading it in this forum... but... that sounds right), but Toumei Ningen, Superstar itself and Senkou Shoujo (especially the slower English version) are all fine songs. I thought Superstar in particular was one of the best tracks off Adult.

Then again I was somewhat shocked to hear everyone being so hard on Variety here, even if it is arguably weaker than the other TJ albums, I still thought it was an interesting change of pace (aside from that bizarre Doors solo rip-off/"homage" moment on one of the later tracks, that was just wrong) due to the complete songwriting changeover. I do hope Shiina goes back to a more full-time role on the next one, or at least do a "real" new solo record.

I mean, you guys don't like Gips?! That's a great pop song! Hey, not all her stuff has to be crazy genre-hopping, key and tempo-changing masterpieces, some of it can focus on her fun, sexy wailing.

Tramp > Dynamite, btw. Not only is Tramp a better song, I think SR just kinda went TOO sloppy with Dynamite. Also I wanna say, this is a pretty cool board, glad I finally found some other fans.

This is EMF, dude. We don't take kindly to "straight forward," easy to digest, guitar songs. A song is only as good as the number of encyclopedias we had to open to enjoy the song
(I LOVE Gibs)

I hear what you say about Shiina being kinda sloppy in Dynamite...but the entire band is sloppy in Tramp =p
