Muhhaha, yea, a duo going solo is basically a breakup. I'll definitely keep my ear out for her work. It's better than most of the other stuff that's out there.

her solo album is pretty much the same, I mean Dresden Dolls is more or less her writing all the music to fit the two piece style (aka percussion) and she kept a lot of stuff for herself that doesn't fit that style and voila, you have a solo album, lots of musical experimentation. it was produced by ben folds, he plays a bunch on the cd, there is a ton of strings thanks to zoe keating (who used to be with rasputina) and a bunch of other folk, st. vincent even sings a cover of a song about domestic abuse!
yeah its a break up, but brian and amanda are kind of voracious best-friends/lovers/arch-enemies, they work together and make great music and fight and make up and all the above, so it just got to be a bit much lately and hence the announcement to spend time on other projects. |
