I'm a new advocate of English lyrics. When you can sing along with a song and the lyrics resonate without your having to 'interpret it the way you like' it makes your SR-love that much stronger. Robbie Clark, EMF lurker, well done! Bards were important in history for a reason.

I just want to add that regardless of what Bokoku Joucho's lyrics are about, the music itself sounds like a military song, the kind of music the army bands would play while a group of soldiers march through.

I wasn't meant to be insulting. Of course you've been studying Japanese for several years, nobody just jumps in N3 (JLPT basically killed me so I have no plans to take that again anytime soon). It wasn't so much a criticism directed towards you as a general rumination on Shiina's lyrics and how they aren't "normal" Japanese. But I apologize for the condescending remarks. |
